When you become a member of a UWA in India you automatically
become member of IFUWA as well as of IFUW. The first step
therefore is to become a member of the nearest UWA.

IFUWA has two types of University Women’s
Associations as members-:
i) Member UWAs and
ii) Associate Member UWAs
As a federation of University Women’s Associations (IFUWA) has
University Women’s Associations as members, but there is a group of
women who are nowhere near any UWA and would like to be members of
IFUWA and IFUW. They can join as Direct members of IFUWA; and it is
hoped that they might later be able to create a New UWA where they
are or enjoy the benefits of Individual member of IFUWA.
Who can become a member?
Membership is open to all women graduates and those with equivalent
professional degrees, irrespective of their age, caste, race,
nationality, political opinions or other status.
As per IFUW membership requirements degrees that meet the following
criteria are recognized:
• The degree, diploma or similar qualification is awarded for a
programme that normally requires at least three years of study at a
university or educational institutional of comparable standing.
• In the case of educational institutions other than universities,
the entrance requirements are the same as required for university
entry.
The resulting degree, diploma or similar qualification that would
make the holder eligible for entry into a Master's level study
programme.
Two year accounting, nursing and other
technical degrees do not qualify for full membership, in that case
one can be an Associate member of a UWA.
How to enroll as a member of IFUWA?
For information regarding membership of a UWA or for
becoming an Independent member of IFUWA if you are very far

At the moment there are 11 Member UWAs in IFUWA and 3 Associate
Member UWAs, you can learn about these by clicking on UWAs of IFUWA
on the home page and on About IFUWA, the *marked UWAs are Associate
Member UWAs
Each UWA has its own enrollment forms
and annual membership fee, which in case of Member UWAs includes
local fee, IFUWA dues and IFUW capitation fee. Associate member UWAs
(star marked) have local fee and IFUWA dues and do not have IFUW
membership so these do not charge IFUW Capitation fee till they
become Member UWAs.
Membership of IFUWA offers opportunities to:
• get to know
like minded members in other UWAs
• to take part in activities of UWAs, IFUWA & IFUW
• to obtain introduction to members of other UWAs when traveling
• be part of an international network of women with a common purpose
• develop knowledge of Local, National and international issues and
have input on issues at all levels
• take part in IFUW action programmes, including calls for papers
and workshops
• attend IFUW and regional conferences, seminars and workshops
• obtain leadership training and experience
• apply for fellowships
• benefit from international friendship
• obtain introductions to members of other national affiliates when
traveling abroad;
• take pride in belonging to an influential international
non-governmental
organization.
